The OnePlus 15 is the best option from the manufacturer, unless a Pro variant is released that addresses the issues with the OnePlus 15. Anyway, until then, we can throw the OnePlus 15 into the competition.
I mean, really fierce competition – the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
As I stated in the title, the power of the OnePlus 15 is currently unmatched; however, since the S25 Ultra’s launch has been a while away, you may find it on sale around the US.
But the question is, is it still worth it when you have the option of buying the latest OnePlus?
Well, I will be walking you through that in detail, by sharing all the necessary information that will help you make a safe purchase for either of the two.
·The Performance Comparison
You are choosing a flagship phone, so let me start with what really matters to most of us in a flagship – performance.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, paired with 12GB of RAM. But the OnePlus 15 comes with the latest Snapdragon, that is 8 Elite Gen 5, starting at 12GB and going up to 16GB. Plus, the RAM in the OnePlus 15 is the faster LPDDR5X variant, which makes multitasking and gaming feel smoother.
Specs aside, how do they both perform in real life?
I tested both with some heavy-duty gaming, and to test them flawlessly, I upgraded to the highest-speed plan by reaching out to Spectrum customer service (it’s basically the customer support of my reliable internet provider).
You might be wondering about the results. Well, the OnePlus 15 pulled ahead. Load times were faster, frame rates were smoother, and it handled everything I threw at it without breaking a sweat. For normal day-to-day tasks, both phones performed great in my test. I barely noticed any difference while browsing, using social media, and capturing photos of Milo (my dog).
Anyway, if raw power or gaming performance is your priority, the OnePlus 15 clearly wins.
·The Camera Comparison
Now, the camera. Specs-wise, it looks like S25 Ultra might take the crown: 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto, and another 50MP periscope (for those spies out there). On the flip side, OnePlus has a 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide, and 50MP telephoto.
Well, I repeat here, S25 Ultra does take the crown for having a better camera.
When using the cameras in real life, Samsung still has the edge. Their color processing and image optimization make photos more natural and vivid. As for low-light shots, Samsung nails it because of the bigger 200MP sensor. OnePlus tends to overprocess images – colors look warmer, sometimes a bit too saturated.
As for the videos, neither phone is going to beat an iPhone, but Samsung does a better job here again. OnePlus can record fine, but the S25 Ultra handles dynamic lighting better.
If cameras are your priority, Samsung is better. However, OnePlus isn’t all bad if you mostly care about casual shots.
·The Battery Comparison
Here’s when the OnePlus 15 wins. It comes with a 7,300mAh battery thanks to their new silicon-carbon tech. I have been saying this in my other reviews – that’s insane for a modern flagship.
Samsung’s S25 Ultra has a respectable 5000mAh battery, but it won’t last as long under heavy usage. I went through a full day of gaming, streaming, and browsing on both. OnePlus still had plenty of juice left by evening. With the S25 Ultra, I was scraping the last 6% and thinking about the charger.
Anyhow, if battery life is your major concern and you hate charging your phone in the middle of a tedious day, the OnePlus 15 should be your choice.
·The Display Comparison
Both phones have gorgeous displays, but they do have differences. Samsung sticks with its classic Super AMOLED displays, offering bright, crisp visuals with punchy colors. OnePlus 15 also has AMOLED, but to me, it feels slightly brighter and smoother, thanks to a higher refresh rate at 165Hz.
OnePlus feels smooth when watching videos or scrolling through content. It’s almost like the screen keeps up with your fingers. Samsung’s display is still amazing for media consumption. Also, it’s slightly bigger than the OnePlus at 6.9-inch whereas the OnePlus 15 has 6.78-inch.
So, display-wise, it’s a close call. If you value ultra-smooth scrolling and gaming visuals, the OnePlus 15 has a subtle edge. Otherwise, Samsung still delivers a top-tier experience.
Which One Should You Buy?
If you want raw power, battery life, and a smoother experience, the OnePlus 15 is the one you should spend money on. If camera quality and color-accurate display matter more, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra still holds its ground.
Personally, I’d go OnePlus 15 right now. It’s future-proof, fast, and handles everything without compromise. But if you can wait, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will be released in a few months. It can be better than the OnePlus 15.
